The Yellow Belt is a 2-day on-site course that provides a foundation to Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques, developed further on the Green Belt course. This intensive course is high in practical content and comprises of 17 modules.

The Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification is primarily aimed at individuals who are looking to gain a foundational understanding of the Six Sigma methodology and its tools. It is designed for those who:

  1. Support Roles in Projects: Employees who will participate in Six Sigma projects as team members rather than leading them. They assist Green Belts and Black Belts by understanding the basics of the processes and methodologies being used.
  2. Entry-Level Employees: Individuals new to the workforce or new to a company that utilises Six Sigma. It serves as an introduction to process improvement techniques and the Six Sigma philosophy.
  3. Operational Staff: Employees working in operational or administrative roles who need to understand Six Sigma principles to contribute to process improvement initiatives within their departments.

Who will teach me?

Dr Adelaide Marzano, Head of Engineering and Mathematics in our School of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment, is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and ISO 9000 Assessor with over 15 years of experience in digital manufacturing, continuous improvement, and systems engineering, including industry work with BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Airbus, and AVIO. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy with 30 international peer-reviewed publications, she has a strong track record of delivering high-impact training in quality management, process optimisation, and data-driven decision-making, translating complex concepts into practical, industry-focused learning.
