The
Green Belt is a 3-day on-site course that builds on the introductory element (
Yellow Belt course) to broaden knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques. This intensive course is high in practical content and comprises of 13 modules.
The Six Sigma Green Belt certification is primarily aimed at individuals who are looking to gain a deeper understanding of the Six Sigma methodology and its tools. It is designed to be relevant for a diverse mix of career stages and professions and is applicable across levels and sectors:
- Support Roles in Projects: Employees who will participate in Six Sigma projects as team leaders.
- Managers and Supervisors: Those who oversee processes or teams and need to lead Six Sigma projects to support process improvements and foster a culture of continuous improvement within their teams.
- Professionals Seeking Career Advancement: Individuals who want to enhance their resumes and skill sets by acquiring a recognised certification in process improvement methodologies.
What will I learn?
You will cover the Fundamentals of Six Sigma methodology, the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) process, key tools and techniques for process improvement, and Practical application through case studies and exercises.

Who will teach me?
Dr Adelaide Marzano, Head of Engineering and Mathematics in our School of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment, is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and ISO 9000 Assessor with over 15 years of experience in digital manufacturing, continuous improvement, and systems engineering, including industry work with BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Airbus, and AVIO. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy with 30 international peer-reviewed publications, she has a strong track record of delivering high-impact training in quality management, process optimisation, and data-driven decision-making, translating complex concepts into practical, industry-focused learning.
