Now that you've received your offer to study with us, there's a few steps to secure your place with us and get ready for university.

Application Next Steps

Your next step depends on your individual circumstances. Check out the options below to learn more and understand your next steps.

Applied through UCAS?

There are two types of offers. Here's what they mean:

Unconditional Offer – you’ve met all your entry requirements and have been offered a place on your chosen course! This means that if you accept the offer, you’re in!

Conditional Offer – this means we’re offering you a place if you meet conditions which could be achieving certain grades in your exams this year. You’re almost there, so keep going!

Make your decision

After you receive decisions from all your choices you will need to make a firm and insurance choice on the UCAS Hub by:

If you receive decisions from all your university choices by 31 March, you'll need to reply by 6 May.

If you receive decisions from all your university choices by 13 May, you’ll need to reply by 3 June.

If you receive decisions from all your university choices by 15 July, you'll need to reply by 22 July.

Firm Choice

This will be your first choice and preferred course of study. If your offer is unconditional, this is the course you are choosing to join.

Insurance Choice

You can choose an offer as your insurance choice, just in case you don't meet the conditions of your firm choice.

Coming from College?

If you're joining us from college, we run dedicated transition sessions in June to help you get ready for university life. You get a chance to meet students and staff and prepare for your next steps. We will get in contact with full event details closer to the time - keep an eye on your inbox!

You may be joining us from college in year 1, 2 or 3. Whichever year you are joining the university - you’ll join a group of students taking the same step, and our teams will help you settle in quickly.

Are you an Associate Student?

If you’re a Full Associate student from one of our partner colleges and have completed the required Edinburgh Napier form, there’s nothing more you need to do other than accept the offer we make you. We will get in touch if your college course offers more than one Edinburgh Napier pathway to find out what your choice is.

Our Associate Lite students should complete a UCAS application for their chosen course, but don’t worry our Colleges Team are on hand to offer 1:1 advice and support.

Did you defer your offer?

If you deferred your offer, we’ll get back in touch before your new start date with everything you need to re-engage, from applying for accommodation and funding to preparing for Welcome Week.

We also encourage deferred offer holders to attend this year’s Offer Holder Day - even if you joined us last year. It’s a great chance to reconnect with your course, explore our facilities, speak with lecturers and support teams, and meet the students you’ll be starting alongside. It is also a great place to get clear guidance on your next steps.

Keep an eye on your emails and let us know if any of your details have changed.

What do I need to do on exam results day?

On results day, check your UCAS Hub first. That’s where you’ll see whether your place is confirmed. We normally receive electronic results automatically through UCAS for:

AS, A levels and EPQs from AQA, WJEC, Eduqas, OCR, CCEA, Cambridge International and Pearson
Welsh Baccalaureate
BTEC
OCR Cambridge Technicals
International Baccalaureate
SQA Scottish Highers, Advanced Highers
City & Guilds Diplomas and Certificates
Access to HE
T Levels
Irish Leaving Certificates
Level 3 HE progression relevant vocational qualifications from NCFE, VTCT, UAL, and other exam boards

If there are qualifications not listed above which are conditions of your offer, please send a clear photo or scanned copy of your final certificate and transcripts to ugadmissions@napier.ac.uk with your name and UCAS Personal ID Number. Our team will then review your results and update your application status.

If you didn’t get the results you expected, our Admissions Team are here to help. Please get in touch with us to discuss your options. You may also be able to apply for a different course through Clearing.

How do I organise accommodation?

Moving to Edinburgh? Start your journey by exploring the options at Edinburgh Napier. We have a variety of different accommodation types, head to our accommodation pages to browse the locations. We’ll guide you through each step, right up to moving in.

Accommodation applications will open in the Spring. Please note that you can only apply once you have an unconditional offer that you have firmly accepted. For many offer holders, this will be after you receive your exam results in August.

How do I prepare for Welcome Week?

Your Welcome Week activities consist of events to introduce you to opportunities at Edinburgh Napier. It lets you know what to expect on your course and includes fun activities, which allows you to meet fellow students, and prepare to start your studies.

All the details about the Welcome Week timetable will be sent out a few weeks before the start of the trimester. There’s nothing you need to study in advance - just make sure your contact details are up to date and come ready to explore campus, meet new people and get settled into university life.
