New Balanced Mobile Antenna with Wide Bandwidth Performance
In this paper, a balanced antenna for mobile handset applications with broad bandwidth performance, covering frequencies from 2.6 GHz to 5.8 GHz, is investigated and discussed. The antenna is a variant of folded dipole antenna and a dual-arm on each monopole. The performance of the proposed antenna was analysed and optimised under certain size constrain. For validation, the antenna prototype was fabricated and tested. The performance of this balanced antenna was characterised in terms of the antenna return loss, radiation pattern and power gain. The calculated and measured results in terms of return loss show good agreement and the results also show good wideband characteristics.
