Broadband stripline fed microstrip patch antennas for 3G mobile communications
Bandwidth enhancement and size reduction techniques for microstrip patch antennas are demonstrated theoretically and experimentally. Three novel designs of small broadband microstrip patch antennas for 3G mobile communications are presented: two forms of shorted coplanar patch antenna, and an E-shaped antenna. By optimising the geometry, using ground planes and short circuits, the size of the antennas can be reduced considerably. The predicted and measured impedances of the three proposed designs are discussed.
