Towards more humane calendar applications
This paper describes a study about how people currently use computer-based calendar applications and examines which features do not meet their needs and expectations. Survey data was collected from 88 participants based in 6 organisations using 3 different calendar applications. Detailed follow-up interviews and focus groups were conducted with 13 users. Based on the survey and follow-up interviews, 3 new prototype designs for calendar applications were developed and evaluated. Based on findings in the empirical data, suggestions and recommendations that will help make calendar applications more acceptable, usable and satisfactory are being developed.
