Abstract/Description
With reference to the domain of sociotechnical studies, this paper establishes reasons why expectations of technology implementations are often misguided. Examples from a number of scenarios drawn from academic research demonstrate the phenomena of "unexpected outcome" and strategies for their accommodation.
